  1. About forty years ago the farm and house now belonging to Mr. Bernard Mc Enroe, were owned by the Blakneys. Thos. Ennis, known as "Tom Owen", who had only a few acres of his own, had potatoes sown in a field of Blakney's.
    In the harvest time Tom went to dig some potatoes. He took with him a jennet and cart in which to bring home the day's digging. He left the animal grazing by the hedges in the field in which he worked. When evening came and it was time to go home he could not find the jennet. He searched the neighbouring fields and at length found the animal in the moat field. He tried to catch him. and although the jennet jumped over him twice and he almost had his hands on him, he could not
