   The Care of the Feet.
   In olden times in this district the people generally went barefooted,and it was not until recent yeas that shoes have been worn.My father remembers very well that the majority of old people wore no shoes.As a boy going to school he did not wear boots or shoes until he was about to leave.
   Some of the older people wore clogs.They were shoes with timber soles.The uppers were of a kind of hide made from animal skins. These shoes were very comfortable in winter ,as the damp was kept out.But the people did not consider them good for the feet consequently they were soon discarded.Then boots were made .
   In this parish the farmers wear strong boots made by the shoemaker.These bots are made to endure hardship
