In the townland of Bleachtown, parish of Drumraney and in the County West Meath there was a woman and she used to spin and weave linen. Her name was Kitty Sheeran. She used to grow flax. When it was ripe she used to cut it and bury it in a bog hole for two or three months. Then she used to bring it home and put it on shelves over the fire to dry. When it was dry she used to spin it into yarn. She used also weave linen. A lot of people in the district used to grow flax and bring it to her to get yarn made of it. The way they used to pay her was they used to leave her half of the yarn for payment.
