    There was a funny man in this parish one hundred years ago, his name was Ciaran Moran. He was a blacksmith and his father was a blacksmith also, and the remains of his forge are to be seen at present. When Ciaran was young he was very wild and he was always annoying his mother. The father said he would not have this. One morning he said to Ciaran, "You will have to come with me to-day." Ciaran replied, "All right i will go" The father and son set out for Ballymahon on an ass and cart. A few miles outside the town they came to a cross-roads. Then the father said to Ciaran, "Get down now and take which ever of these roads you like." Without saying a word Ciaran got down and went off with himself and the father went home.
    Not far from where Ciaran lived was situated the Police Barracks. The police missed Ciaran and they made some remark to the father. The father thought it would be best to get back Ciaran afraid that the police would find out what he had done to him. The father set out for Ballymahon to look for his son. When he came to the place where he left Ciaran he made inquiries about Ciaran. He got particulars as to where he was. About a mile from the cross-roads where he left Ciaran he found him with a number of boys, teaching them how to play "Jack Stones." The father asked Ciaran to go home with him and he did.
