- 359Hurling 9.2.1939.Many hurling matches were played locally in olden times. They were generally between two townlands. Kilmeedy and Dromcollogher used to play against one another, and Kilmeedy, who had lively active men, generally got victory. The clothes they used wear were called "tights." These were made up of short white pants and a black and white jersey. Goal posts were not used that time but lime was mixed with water and lines made with it accordingly. The captain of the victorious team was carried on their shoulders to show their respect. Kilmeedy used give a creditable display against their opponents. Mary Geary
