  1. The inhabitants of the Kilmeedy District long ago composed their own cures. Corns may be cured by applying an ivy leaf to the corn, but before applying it, the ivy leaf must be heated to the fire for a few minutes, then apply it to the corn and leave it on for one night. After removing the leaf the corn may be easily taken out with the fingers. Another cure for corns, is to wash them in very hot water and salt.
Corns are caused by tight or strong footwear. Bunions are also caused in the same way. The old people say chillblains may be cured by using a spoon of breadsoda mixed with lampoil. When mixed rub it hard to the chillblaine in front of a fire. Chillblains may be also cured by heating an onion to the fire and then applying it to the chillblains.
