- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)used to sit around a large stool on the middle of the floor and used to eat their food from this stool. Oatmeal bread was eaten by the old people in large quantities. This bread was made with oatmeal and flour and butter and was wet with buttermilk. It used to be baked on a griddle by the fire. It was left baking for a few hours and used to be very crisp. Cabbage and turnips were eaten as vegetables with the dinner.
Potatoes or porridge was eaten for the supper before bed time. Large quantities of eggs were eaten on Easter Sunday and a fowl was eaten on St. Martin's day and at Christmas.- Bailitheoir
