  1. The Lore of Certain Days
    Certain days in this district are looked upon as being lucky or unlucky for certain things. For instance Saturday is looked upon by some people as being a very bad day for starting any big job that could not be done in one day. They say that work begun on Saturday is never finished.
    Friday is regarded as a lucky for changing from one house to another. Most cures are performed on either a Monday or a Thursday such as the cure for ringworm, the cure for a drain or the cure for a "sty" or warts and many others.
    Most people in the district like to have their potatoes planted before the fourtheenth day of April and some people that Good Friday is a very lucky day for planting potatoes. Some people also say that oats should be set before the cuckoo is heard in the district. There is a story of a man who just has the last grain of his oats shaken when he heard the cuckoo and he said to her "Madam you are late".
