  1. There are several interesting funny stories told but I think this one is about the best I have ever heard. It is entitled "Fair Play".
There was once a good natured chief living in Co. Clare. He was very fond of leaving his castle to travel alone.
One day passing along a country road he met a man who was beating his horse with a heavy stick.
"Why do you beat your poor horse so much ?" asked the chief.
"Because it is my own beast and I will do just as I want with it" shouted the man. He began again to beat the horse.
This was more than the chief could stand. He lifted up his own stick and gave the cruel man a fine beating.
At last the man cried out,
"What are you doing this for. I have done nothing to you".
The chief enjoyed the joke greatly.
"Look here, my man", he said. "Do you see this stick which you have just felt. This is my own. Can't I do what I like with it".
