  1. Hidden Treasure
Supplies by Owen McConnell Mitchelstown ages 55 years. Born Mitchelstown. Lived in Mitchelstown. Heard form
There was an old castle in Mitchelstown many years ago. Mrs Stockes and her husband were living in it. When her husband died, Mrs Stockes went mad and she threw all her silver into a well that was near the castle. Then she went up the road and this is how Stockes' cross got its ame. The well where the treasure is, lies about fifty yards from where the castle was supposed to stand
[Drawing of 'peculiarly marked stone in possession of Mrs. Thos. Duffy, [?], found in a field in [?], known as the stone field.]
