    was over, they used go to the farmers' houses. Every child had to take a sod of turf for the fire. The teacher was paid two pence every week for the instruction he gave by each child.
    Irish and English were the chief subjects. The teacher was very much in favour of Irish and Irish culture. They used write on slates with chalk. The children were seated on benches and on the floor. The teacher remained about fifteen years in each district.
