  1. In this district feasts are observed as they occur each year.
On St. Brigid's Night the sick people put out clothes so that they might be cured. On that night also it is said that water changes into wine and changes back into water before morning.
On St. Patrick's Day processions are held and the Irish people wear shamrock.
On Shrove Tuesday some people get married. On that night the young men dress queerly and they take the unmarried people a few miles from their house. The people say they were taken Sceilg.
Good Friday is a black fast day. The people fast from milk and eggs on that day.
On St. John's Day people visit Holy Wells. On that night the children light bonfires.
On May Day some people wash their face in the dew; It is said that they would not get a cold that year.
On Hallow Eve apples and nuts are plentiful. Some people buy "Barm Bracks" for that night.
Long ago the people used have feasting for twelve days after Christmas.
On St. Stephen's Day the boys dress comically and go around from house to house gathering money and singing the "Wren's Song".
