  1. In olden times the people used to have three meals daily, the breakfast, dinner and supper. The breakfast was eaten at nine o'clock in the morning, the dinner was eaten at one o'clock and the supper at seven o'clock. Two hours work was usually done before breakfast.
    Each meal consisted of potatoes and thick milk. Skim milk and butter milk was drunk. The table was placed in the middle of the floor when it was in use.
    The wheat was ground and mixed with milk. The bread was baked on a griddle. Cornbeef was eaten and fish and vegetables were also eaten. Sometimes Indian meal stirabout was eaten but this is long gone out of fashion.
    Pancakes were eaten on Shrove Night. On Christmas Night the people had whiskey and porter. Eggs were eaten on Easter Sunday.
    About the year eighteen hundred tea became common. Basins were used before cups became common.
