In Sandfords Court there is a castle where people lived long ago. One of the families that lived in the castle had two hounds which they reared under ground. They also kept cows which they milked every morning and evening. One night when they were going out to milk the cows they saw a hare sucking the milk from the cows. This happened for a good many evenings. One evening the man of the house set the hounds after the hare. The hare ran into the kitchen and into one of the rooms up stairs. The hounds followed it and one of the hounds bit the hare in the leg. When the man went into the room he found a witch in the bed, with a piece out of her leg.
