- Many people still believe in Jackie the Lantern. It is supposed that he was a man who dies, and when he was judges, he was told he could not get into heaven. It is said he would not be let into Hell also.
God then gave him a very large lantern, and he told him to remain wandering round the world until the day of Judgement. That is the light some people see occasionally passing through bogs, and other lonesome places in dark nights. People say his other name before he died was Willie the Wisp.
