It is said that you should not put up smoke on a May morning untill you see smoke coming out of a neighbours house for it is said that a person in the form of a hare would come and take all the butter from your cows. This is called witchcraft and it has happened on several occasions that a person would put on a fire before seeing any smoke coming out of a neighbours house and when churning the next time received no butter. This hare can be shot
