    1. Long ago when there were no candles the people would get the (piff) of) pith of the rush and then would dip it in melted butter and left it till it dried. In this way they made candles.
    2. When people were making soap they would get washing soda and boil it with tallow. When it would be boiled they would take out the mixture and would have soap.
