    In the townland of Kilkenny the remains of an old school are still to be seen. It was built about the year 1800. The teacher was by the name of Neil Martin from the townland of Kilclooney. The journey home was very far and he would stay in Maas. His salary was very small and every child would have to give him four shillings per year. The scholars had no exercises and they wrote all on
