  1. Most marriages take place from Advent to Lent and that season is called the Ranton Season.
    Long ago the people had different customs at marriages. When a boy and girl were going to be married the boy would come one way and the girl would come another way and both would meet at the Chapel gate. Sometimes they would come on horse-back and other times they would come walking.
