    'San bhliadhaun "1874" bhí doiréann mór i Gconndai Tir Conaill. Cupla lá roimhe an doireann bhí an spéir dorcha, acht ní rabh i bhfad go rab tairnean mór ann. Sgiobh an gaot cupla slatai as gach toighe. Bhí doireann mór ann ar fead cuigh lá agus nuair a rabh sé ag faghail bhais thainig an soillsiughadh agus bhí truir capall amuigh 'san phairc eigin agus mharbhuig sé na truir caiple sin.
