  1. The old people of Ireland used to make their own candles from the inside of the rush with suet all round it. They made a basket of rods which they called a "Beisean". They (made) used it for hens to lay in. They made their own cloth from wool. First they clipped the wool off the sheep and then the put sweet oil on it after this they card it and make rools of it. Then the spinner takes the rools and spins them on a small spinning wheel. They rool the thread then on a clew. Then the weaver takes the clews and puts it on the loom and weaves it into cloth.
