    There lived in the parish of Glenties a family called O'Donnells.

    There lived in the parish of Glenties a family called O'Donnells. They were water bailiffs for the land lord. The tenants disagreed with the land lord and issued "no rent manifesto". They poached the rivers for salmon and it happened that the O'Donnells drew their revolvers and wounded the poachers with their deadly patters of lead. They discharged all their ammunition one night. The old O'Donnell took out his kife and cut all his laces and ran after the other men. They fought during the night
