I will now write down a few verses of a local song which I heard. Its name is "Sweet Ballinagree" a town land in this parish, and it was composed by Mr Corneilus O'Carroll.
"To night all alone by the banks of the Lee,
Where its bright waters mingle with those of the sea,
I sit, and I ponder on long vanished joys,
And the pleasure I had when I roamed with the boys. This is a lovely place beautous, and grand,
With fine colours blending our ocean, and land,
Sweet scented roses, and flowers every hue,
Fine shady harbours, and avenues too.Charming indeed is the foam crested brine,
As it washes the harbour of Carrigaline
And far famed Crosshaven enchanting to view
With yachts gliding over its waters so blue.Unrivalled in beauty is shady Cullmore,
But it pleases me not to the place I adore
Where the Laune flows down limpid, and free,
From the heath covered mountains of Ballinagree. My eyes let them feast on the old rustic cross,
And the chapel so neat, where I oft went to Mass(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
