“In the time of the landlords there was a woman who lived with her son in a farm of land near Boyle.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)clutch of eggs, so that when the chickens would be reared she would sell them, and have the rent for the landlord. The week before she was to bring the chickens to the market, they all died. She got a small pig, and reared him so that she might sell him and with the money she would get for him she could pay the rent. The day before the fair the pig died on her too, and so she had not money to pay the rent. The landlord came to the house a few days later. He caught hold of the woman by the hair of her head, and asked her for the rent. She said that she had no money for him. Then he said that she must leave the house. She managed to get a big stick, and with a blow of it she killed him. Her son then threw him in a boghole. A while before that, a buck goat had been thrown in a bog-hole near where the landlord's body was thrown. Somebody took up the carcase of the goat, threw it in the boghole, and buried the landlord in the spot where the goat(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
