“Once upon a time there lived a king and queen who had an only son.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the ladies told him it did not matter about the hump, and they pulled him out on the floor, very much against his will. While he was dancing, the fairies (for fairies they were) took down a little silver magic saw and sawed the hump off the prince's back, putting it in a box.
When the dance was over the prince got up to go, and he discovered, much to his surprise, that the hump had disappeared. When he reached home, he opened the window and called to his mother to let him in. The queen came to the window, to make sure it was her son who was there. She would not believe it was he until he showed her his name branded on his chest. Then she let him in. Next day he related to his father and mother all his experiences of the previous night.
The king also had a slight hump so he resolved to get rid of it as his son got rid of his. Next night he set out for a dance, and was invited by the fairies to(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
