In Old Leighlin there is a protestant church and a burial-ground and catholics do be buried in it also. Every night at ten o'clock a dead coach used to be seen passing from Old Leighlin to Shanakill which was a distance of about four miles from Old Leighlin. It used not go along the road but through the lanes and through fields and out through yards. There was another church in Shanakill and a little burial ground and another coach used to go from it to Old Leighlin. One night it was going from Shanakill to Old Leighlin. It was going out through a yard and there were hens roosting on a wall and it made such a noise that they all flew to the kitchen door and were all found dead in the morning. The next night the two coaches were travelling and they met together in a lane. They made such noise that it was thought that they had a collision.
