- Long ago in the time of the penal days no Catholic could attend mass or no mass could be said and any priest caught would be put to death.
In the townland now called Altar there was a priest who (had) lived in the penal times and and who every morning read mass. He would say mass in a cave along the river side. At this time their lived a witch on the farm now owned(continues on next page)
