  1. Before the present Tullyard school was built there was a little house on the lane of Simon Elets which served as a school. The teacher who was an native of Glenties was Miss Bluecannon and had her dwelling house in the village of Glenties. The scholars wrote on slates with bits of clay pipes. They were taught English and this school was appreciated by the people who sent children to it because at that time schools were few.
