  1. One day about thirty years ago a girl named Kate Lynch from Killann who was hired in Patrick McGorry's Drumlum asked my father to take her out for a sail on the lake in a boat belonging to Pat McQuaid.
The following Sunday he did it and there were no sally bushes or empty reeds around the lake at that time and a whirlwind came which shook the boat and the girl got frightened and jumped out. There was a man named Peter Paul Connelly, who lived in Drumcondra alone where James Martin is now living, fishing on the bank and he swam out and carried her safe on dry land. The man who saved her is dead twenty years now and he was got dead in his bed. The girl died in a year afterwards and my father says that she never got over the fright she got.
