  1. John King of Lisnaclay who died about twenty years ago used to make songs. He was a farmer and went to Knappa school when he was young. He made a song about broken mile stone which was beside his house but he would not give the words to anyone.
    He was a member of the Land League and he made a song about his opponents. Some of the lines were:
    You'd think it was O'Connell the morning he shot Stair,
    To see the cooper Carroll come riding on the mare.

  2. Peter McCabe of Lurganboy made many verses on his neighbours to make fun. One of them is,
    Our Droka lane may stagger out of their community,
    For they hav'nt got an honest man only two or three,
    They elected Rice their chairman
