One time a man named Michael Mac Donnell was rooting a fort which was in his land, about three miles from Kilrush. He was rooting away until he came to a stone, it was not a very large stone, so he lifted it up and threw it some distance away from him. He began to dig at another part when he heard a sound. He looked behind him and he saw the stone which he had removed roll back to its place again. He got a little frightened at first. But after a while he got courage again, and took the stone again and threw it some few feet more than he threw it the first time. But after a while he saw the stone roll back to its place again. He thought not to touch it anymore. But near evening the stone was in his way, so he went to lift it. But as soon as he left his hand on the stone, he was thrown out over it, and he heard a voice again, not to touch the stone again.
