    (I)
    On the 15th day of August in the year of '93,
    Heart-rending was the news that spread through this locality,
    Each man and boy will shed a tear each woman breathe a prayer,
    For the souls of those poor victims who were drowned upon this year.

    (II)
    From Moyne Quay they sailed away for Tarbert they were bound,
    But little was their notion that night they would be drowned,
    When they steered towards Carrick Island the seas began to roll,
    Where screams and cries did reach the skies when they found they were no more.

    (III)
    No doubt it was a dreadful sight as everyone may know,
    To see them ploughing in the deep with nowhere else to go
