    When St Senan was dying in Scattery he left a special favour to a family named Hedderman that whatever request they asked through him would always be granted. It happened that one member of the family had an impediment and was constantly jeered at by his neighbours. One day his neighbour's cattle came trespassing on his land. He went to drive them out and his neighbour being near and when he saw him he began jeering and imitating him. The man with the impediment knelt down on the ground and prayed to St Senan that no matter how bad himself was the other may be ten times worse. When the other man awoke the following morning his speech had completely gone. The priest was immediately sent for and when he came he asked the man had he done anything to offend anyone. The man regained his speech after the priest had asked him this question and he confessed all he had done. The priest told him to pray for himself and the man he had offended. When the man with the impediment was going to bed that night he heard a voice outside the window saying "I had great difficulty to obtain that favour you asked as God was not pleased to grant it and you are never to ask
