well kept. I do not know how Vernegly got its name. THere are no old people in Vernegly.
Houses were more plentiful in this district long ago than they are now. There are two houses in ruins. Morans and an old house belonging to people named Stafford.
Many people emigrated to America or Canada from this district. Vernegly is not mentioned in any song. The land in this townland is very good and suitable for tillage and for crops such as beet and wheat.
There are no trees in this district because of the effect that the south-eastern wind, which blows from the sea, has on the trees.
There is no lake or river of any importance in this district.
