    dead dog that was barking at a pockmarked cat that was dying with the chin cough. I put my hand into that dog's mouth and I turned him inside out. and he followed me home through bogholes of buttermilk and mountains of stirabout and I came home on the first of July, the hungriest month in the year with the last of bad luck on my back.
