  1. The only story known in this locality about a giant is in connection with the battle of "Knoc na Nos" which took place in the seventeenth century. In this battle there was a warrior named Mac Alister who was man of extraordinary strength.
    It is related that the sword he carried had a 56lb weight attached to it. This weight would slide out to the point of the sword and give greater force to the power of the blow.
    He used this with great effect on men and horses. It is thought he was killed in the battle because some time afterwards when the bones were being removed from the battlefield the bones of a giant was discovered. The bones and skull, were twice the size of normal human remains.
