  1. There is a story told about a brave warrior of long ago named Donal na Casgal who lived in the caves of Gortmore a few miles from Mallow.
    He was of the O'Keeffe Clan. There lived with him as he thought a faithful servant named Mairgéad Ná Ceallaigh and the two were very much attached. Every day she would row into Mallow for their provisions and as there was a price on Donal's head by the English soldiers she had to be very careful and even carried a gun with her. Then one day she got friendly with the English soldiers and by and by they forced her to tell them
