  1. In former times the people got cures from their elders.
The food left after a ferret was said to be a good cure for the whooping cough, or to meet a man on a white horse and ask him for a remedy for the whooping cough, the cure given was said to be good.
Holy wells are also visited by persons with any kind of sores. In Dromtariffe and Cullen the people walk around the well while saying three rosaries, they then rub the water to the sore. A number of people are cured at these wells.
Herbs were also used for rheumatism, stomach or kidney trouble.
The seventh son or daughter is said to be able to fix broken bones or sprains.
