Cradle-birds were made by placing sticks across one another and were used to catch birds. Snares were also made to trap rabbits and hares. Animals were also cut from turnips.
On windy days the children made paper kites. These are made from large sheets of paper from which a string is tied. The children always drew great amusement from this toy.
