  1. The people bring in a green branch of elder on Mayday because they say it is very lucky.
    It is said that you should not give away any milk or that you should not throw out any ashes.
    Long ago the people used to put a cross of tar on the doors of the cowhouses. They used to do it to bless the cows.
    People say that if a cow will calf on Mayday that either the cow or the calf will die.
    Customs of the fishing.
    It is said that when people are going fishing it is very lucky to throw an old shoe after them and it is very lucky to bring coals out with them in their pockets.
