    One time there was a woman and seven children living in a little house beside a bog. It was a turf bog and it belonged to her. She had some dislike to her neighbours and she would not let them get the turf out of the bog.

    A long time ago there was a house in Ballyfoyle and the people that were living in it were called Haydens. One night they were all gone to bed and it was about twelve o' clock and something tapped at the door.

One night they were all gone to bed and it was about twelve o'clock and something tapped at the door. The man of the house got up and asked who was there and he got the answer "I am". Then he asked "who are you" and he got the answer "a friend". Then he asked it waht did it want and it said "a drink of water". The man said that there was not a sup of water in the house and he told it to go to the well and drink enough out of it. Then there was no more about it. The next morning the woman of the
