    Purty Polly had a hen
    She laid eggs for gentlemen
    The gentlemen came there one day
    But Purty Polly was out of the way
    The cat at the fire was frying the fish
    The mouse in the cupboard was licking the dish
    The dog upstairs was dressing the bed
    And the pig in the pigsty combing his head
    The cock in the dung was crowing for day
    The hens in the meadow where making the hay.
