    The foaming waves, the exiles grave
    No burial rites beseeming:
    Nor book, nor bell, nor shroud, nor shell,
    Nor eyes of sorrow streaming!

    As o'er the side, the planks doth slide
    The corpse is seen descending.
    The hammock round the body wound,
    His comrades o'er it bending.
