  1. We have a churn at home. It is an old fashioned churn. It is four foot in height and one foot in weath. The parts of it are the dash the clapper and the lid. The dash is for churning the milk and the clapper and lid are for holding the milk in the churn. Before you start churning it is right to throw a grain of salt on the churn. If a person comes in it is not right for him to go out without taking a while of the churn, for fear he would bring away the butter. It is not right to let a man out with a coal in his pipe, for fear he would bring away the butter, while the churning is going on.
