  1. There is a couple of old houses in my village. There are two rooms and a kitchen in each house. There is also a loft and in the back of the kitchen there is a cailleach, near the fire. In some of the houses the fire is in the gable, and in more of the houses in the middle of the floor. The fire places are very big in some of the houses and a hob each side of it. There are three very small windows in each house. There was glass in the windows at that time. The people used to put sheep-skin in the windows. The floors that were in these houses were made of flags and mortar. There were two doors in each house and a wooden bolt on each door. There is a settle-bed in each house, It is a bed during the night and it is a seat during the day.
