  1. In the year (1888) there was a great storm and many houses were stripped of their thatch and slates. The wind raged all day and at night-fall it seemed as if abaiting but at bed-time the wind raged and the slates went flying off the houses. The storm raged all night and also accompanied by rain. In the morning the flood was spread and many roads were torn up. Many sheep were lost also.
