Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There is only one tailor in this district, and he always works in his own home.
He never stocks any cloth for the public as all his customers bring their own material for him to make up. It is different, however, in the local towns, as the tailors there usually have a big stock of material to suit their customers, or they will order any suit length they require.
Cloth is not spun now locally, and people do not wear clothes made of such cloth.
People now generally wear suits made of tweed, serge or flannel, and most of this material is manufactured in our Irish factories.
The only sayings I know in connection with a tailor are:---
"A tailor is always know by his clippings"
"A long stitch a lazy tailor."
"Marry a tailor and you marry a thimble."
The only implements a tailor requires to carry on his business are:---a strong sewing machine, a heavy pressing iron (the tailor's goose) a large pair of scissors, a bottomless thimble, good sewing needles, abundance of thread.
