  2. During the Penal Laws when the priests were hunted, mass was said in the fields. There is a place in Killinineen parish of Drumraney called Foggy Hollow, this place marks the spot where mass was said in those days. The fields in which Foggy Hollow is situated is convenient to Connaughton's house. There is a flat rock in this place which was used as an altar.

  3. In this townsland of Ballycloduff parish of Drumraney and County West Meath there is a field belonging to Mr O'Roarke called Clocstuca. Long ago there was a battle fought in that field and druids fought in the battle. Two of the druids were killed and were buried in this field. They were buried in urns and the spears that they had fighting were buried
