- There are many farm and domestic animals at home. The cows have names. These names are ; Bawny, Polly and Proogy. When we are driving the cows and calves out of the field we say ; How ! How! The cows are tied to stakes. They are never tied by the horn or legs. The call for hens is ; tuk ! tuk ! The call for turkeys are ; Yeb ! Yeb ! The call for ducks are ; Weety ! Weety ! When we drive a horse we say ; Glic ! Glic ! When driving sheep we say ; Yer ! Yer ! When setting a hen or any of fowl to hatch there is a horse-shoe put under the nest and another in the fire. It is said that it keeps the lightning and thunder from killing the birds.
