The district was thickly populated before the famine. The people used to burn rush candles. The decay came in the potatoes both in ground and pit. The potatoes were sown in drills. The people had to eat oaten porridge.

Buttons
All the people stand and one person goes round to everyone and gives to someone the button. Then he goes round and asks the people who has the button and if they do not know they will get a slap.
